Andy White is a freelance copywriter based in Manchester, England.
While completing his degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication in the 1980′s, Andy made the decision to specialise in copywriting. Having heard, incorrectly, that writers earned more than designers.
His copywriting career started at Axon Garside Stockport, moving swiftly to McCann Erickson Manchester, The Charles Wall Group Leeds and Publicis Manchester, at which point he decided to go freelance. In the ensuing years he has written copy for such agencies as Yellow M, RB and The Artworks Consortium in Newcastle upon Tyne and Momentum Worldwide, TBWA, The Neighbourhood, Red C, The Gate Films, WRG and Gyro in Manchester.
Clients he’s worked with include Nestlé/Nescafé, Manchester Airport, Manchester United, Mintex Don, Mecca, JD Williams, Renault, GMPTE, WYPTE, Frontline MGLE50, Mediaburst, Cotton Traders, Manchester City and many, many more. Such a diversity of jobs has obviously called for a diversity of skills. So Andy is equally at home producing TV and Radio ads, Direct Mail, Press, above the line, below the line, over the line and between the lines. Oh, and lots and lots of online advertising.
In all he’s been getting away with it for around 25 years now. He’s featured in The Drum’s ‘Recommended Freelancer Guide’ for the last couple of years too. Which suggests that he’s either a pretty good copywriter or, at the very least, a highly persuasive character. Which can of course amount to much the same thing.
